Hair Extensions Installation Techniques
At Body By Marie Salon, our goal is to give our clients great-looking hair extensions, while keeping the natural hair healthy and encouraging it to grow out.
Choosing a salon that will install hair extensions properly is very important. Hair extensions can add volume and length – but if installed incorrectly, they can also cause hair damage and be an eyesore, rather than a beautiful source of confidence.
To install hair extensions properly, you have to find a caring and knowledgeable stylist who can quickly determine your specific needs, and use the technique that works best for you. No two people have exactly the same type of hair, so a one-size-fits-all technique simply won’t work for most clients.
Secondly, choosing a high quality hair extension is just as important as the installation itself. If poor quality hair is used, this will result in having to have the installation redone far sooner than otherwise necessary. This causes headaches for both the stylist and the client.
Common issues with poor quality hair include:
- Shedding and tangling
- Difficult to install, due to weft thickness
- Difficult to color
- Difficult to straighten or retain curls
- Lack of flow, with the hair looking stiff and unnatural.
Body By Marie Salon we believe in both of these important elements: great, knowledgeable stylists, and the best quality hair on the market! Buy online, or come into our salon and see more!

We provide the following hair extension techniques
Individually Braided Rows
The stylist weaves three cornrow braids, and attaches wefted hair extensions to each individual braid. The result is improvements in hair length and fullness. Most of the natural hair is not braided.
Tape in hair Extensions
Seamless extensions are thin tape-in wefts that are applied in “sandwiches” between rows of your natural hair. This is the most requested hair extension method in salons around the world. This method is 100% natural, requires no tools or chemicals, and lasts up to three months. It takes less than an hour to apply.
(Includes wash and styling.)
This technique allows the client to achieve the most natural look. The hair is cornrow braided, with a portion of the natural hair left out in the center-front to achieve a left, right, or middle part. This gives clients an option to leave some or all of the edges and nape out. Wefted hair extensions are used.
This technique features a full weave, which allows clients to take pressure and heat off of their natural hair, as all of the natural hair is braided and protected by a net. This promotes natural hair growth and health, as no natural hair is left exposed. The hair is cornrowed, with only a small portion of the hair left out. Wefted hair extensions are used.
Full Weave With Closure
Closures, for those who are unfamiliar, are special hair units in which individual hair strands are attached (usually hand-tied) to a piece of material, usually lace or silk. The greatest advantage is that all of your natural hair is braided flat against your head and the closure is sewn down, just like the wefted hair of the weave. This means that none of your natural hair is left exposed, protecting your hair. However, unlike old-style full weaves, the closure allows you to simulate a part in any direction, giving you additional versatility and a more realistic finished style. Wefted hair extensions are used.
Full Frontal Weave
This technique uses a frontal hair piece that extends from temple to temple, giving the effect of a realistic hairline. None of the natural hair is left out, and can be pulled up into high ponytails. All of your hair is braided flat against your head and the closure is sewn down, just like the wefted hair of the weave. This gives the full frontal weave its biggest advantage: None of your real hair is left expose, allowing it to heal and grow. In addition, the closure gives you the freedom of being able to simulate a part in any direction, providing additional versatility and a more realistic finished style. Wefted hair extensions are used.
